I was told that my Mommie used to call me "her little Artist".  I must have shown some talent at an early age, because she died before my 6th birthday.  I remember drawing in pencil on the back of church programs during the Sunday church services.

My Stepmother also noticed my artistic talent and paid for my art lessons from age 10 to 15 with a wonderful professional artist, Mrs. Mosley.  I would stop by her art studio behind her house on the way walking home from school.  During that time, I copied photos onto paper and canvas in a variety of mediums including pencil, acrylic and oil.  I can still smell the turpentine from the room as I cleaned my paint brushes.  Now they make Terpenoid which is odorless!  You can see some of these paintings below under Past Artwork.  See #1 to #11 below.

At age 18, I entered the School of Architecture and took a few drawing and painting classes.  I completed several paintings and drawings until about age 26.  You can see some of those below also under Past Artwork #12 - #34.

From age 26 I did not paint until about 50 years!  I was getting married and raising 4 beautiful children!  I created many artistic works like painted flags, crafts, costumes, etc.  As a professional Architect for 40 years, I created and designed many buildings, completing some hand sketches, drawing on the computer and managing hundreds of facility related projects.

When I was age 66, in November of 2021, my daughter, Kristen, asked me to paint something for her Dining Room wall.  I told her I would be glad to do it, but it had been so long since I had painted anything.  As the Scripture says in Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." I looked for and found an art school nearby to help me start painting again, and met Robin Ingle, a professional artist, who operated Visual Expressions Art School.  She helped me with getting paints, easels, etc. and I took some lessons from her.  Amazingly, God showed me the way to paint again.  Robin was like Mrs. Mosley was to me, encouraging me, mixing colors, selecting brushes, etc. I mainly did oil paintings, and the odorless Terpenoid was great!  You can see this
later period artwork below #37 to #41.

In early 2022, at age 66, I created the Birds & Words Oil Painting Series.   Go to the Birds & Words heading to see the paintings and more information on this very unique artwork.

Under Past Artwork heading, item #41, I completed a 40x30 oil painting titled “Mountain Cabin” in July of 2024, at age 68 for our oldest daughter’s sister in-law, Lisa. She had seen Kay Lynn’s sunset painting #40 and asked me to paint for her. I developed uncontrollable shaking in my right (painting) hand recently, so I painted much of this one with my left hand. This may be my last painting.

It has amazed me that God gave me the ability to express things with my hands for over 60 years! Praise Him for all he has done through me and my artwork!
